Information about rehab centers, drugs, alcohol and more.
Selecting a drug rehab clinic that can provide you or someone you love with treatment can be a long and difficult process but in the end, you will find that you have made a life changing decision. Drug rehab can lead to recovery from addiction and a life of happiness and sobriety. There are many different types of treatment available to assist you in your efforts. From inpatient treatment that provides you with around-the-clock medical care to less invasive methods of care that include support groups and counseling, drug rehab is your best chance at sobriety.
Drug Rehab Clinic Types
Drug rehabilitation clinics come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and each one offers different types of care for different people. So, depending on your circumstances, level of addiction and the type or amount of care you need you will find different rehabilitation clinics are better for your requirements.
Private Rehab Clinics
A private drug rehabilitation clinic is, as the name suggests, private. These facilities offer anonymity to patients that come to them, and they often have luxuriant accommodations. That could be 5 star rooms, gourmet meals, swimming pools, etc. which can all make rehab feel like a retreat rather than a medical procedure.
Private rehabilitation clinics offer a wide variety of services, though some may specialize in a given type of addiction. Treatment times may vary, and there are often different patients on different tracks.
Inpatient Rehab
Inpatient rehabilitation is when the patient has to stay in the rehab facility for treatment. This type of treatment is ideal for people whose condition is so severe that they shouldn’t be left home, much less alone, during the treatment process. For those with severe addiction issues, where physical dependence has reached a heightened level, inpatient rehab is the best way to do things. It is inconvenient, particularly if someone has a home, family and career, but it is also effective at detoxing and rehabilitating people who need that level of help.
Outpatient Rehab
An outpatient rehab center is a place that patients come to get basic service and care, but where they don’t stay. Patients come to the center for counseling or drug therapy, meet with their doctors, and then go home. This form of therapy works best for those who don’t have severe drug dependence, or who need to keep working in order to provide for their families. It also works best for people who are serious about quitting their drug abuse habits, but who need some help in doing so. Those who aren’t serious about quitting, or who don’t view it as important, can just as easily skip going and end treatment right there.
Residential Rehab
A residential rehab facility can best be thought of like inpatient rehab for the long term. These facilities are used for those that have truly serious addiction problems that cannot be solved by a single, short-term program. Whereas a regular inpatient stay may be as short as 28 days or as long as a few months, residential rehab can be significantly longer. Thought of as a last resort, it’s often used for those who have such severe problems that they require care and watching 24 hours per day.
There are controversies surrounding this particular form of rehabilitation. While it does provide care for the residents, detractors claim that it doesn’t address problems that happen in the patients’ lives outside the facility. Poor home lives, difficult work problems and a variety of other daily factors contribute to addiction as a problem. These facilities can only treat the patient, and the patient’s symptoms.
